About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety professional to provide on-site health and safety  consulting services to one of our key clients. This key role will provide a proactive service on all aspects of safety-related issues directly on the client site, including evaluations and inspections, investigating any incidents and providing comprehensive guidance to the client. You will also be responsible for conducting Health and Safety (H&S) evaluations and inspections of buildings, facilities, equipment and apparatus to identify H&S related hazards/deficiencies and provide program management with recommendations to correct. You will also evaluate industrial and construction-related activities as a key member of the on-site team.

In this role, you will:

  • Investigate accidents/incidents and reports of occupational injury/illness for possible causes, prepare necessary documentation and recommend appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate reoccurrence
  • Conduct Health and Safety (H&S) evaluations and inspections of buildings, facilities, equipment and apparatus to identify H&S related hazards/deficiencies and provide program management with recommendations to correct
  • Evaluate industrial and construction-related activities and provide program management with recommendations to resolve safety-related issues
  • Advise Laboratory scientists, engineers, and other programmatic personnel in developing solutions to moderately complex safety-related problems
  • Review Facility Safety Plans, Integrated Work Sheets, Safety Analysis Reports and other technical documents in collaboration with program management
  • Provide emergency response support to safety incidents on-site

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Degree(s) in Occupational Health, Safety, Engineering or related disciplines
  • Certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) or eligible to apply for certification
  • Professional experience with 5 years in occupational safety
  • Experience with overall SHE programs
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, fall protection, personal protective equipment including respiratory protection, machine guarding, trenching and excavation, welding safety and so forth
  • Must be able to provide safety training
